Successful Project Management with 80 Partners

Successful Completion of Project Management Support by DiMOS Operations GmbH in Major Funded Initiative on Connected Mobility

Successful Project Management with 80 Partners

In November 2024, DiMOS Operations GmbH concluded its role as the Project Management Office (PMO) for the funded initiative Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility, focusing on the future of connected mobility. In this ambitious endeavor, around 80 partners from industry and research collaborated to develop innovative mobility solutions. While some sub-projects continue due to cost-neutral extensions, DiMOS completed its PMO mandate on time and to the full satisfaction of all involved stakeholders.

Challenges and Achievements in Project Management

One of the key challenges of the project was coordinating the efforts of a large and diverse consortium. The partners brought a wide range of interests, working styles, and requirements to the table. As PMO, DiMOS took on the complex task of bringing these elements together, creating structured processes to ensure efficient coordination. This included not only organizing and moderating regular internal meetings, but also managing public appearances at high-profile industry events such as Hannover Messe 2024.

In addition to steering internal project operations, DiMOS played a central role in planning and executing key project family and consortium meetings. These gatherings were vital for open, equal-footed collaboration among partners. Thanks to precise coordination, efficient documentation, and forward-thinking planning, DiMOS ensured these events ran smoothly and effectively.

Efficient Governance and Structured Collaboration

A major factor behind the project’s success was the implementation of standardized structures. DiMOS developed professional templates for documentation and established a cohesive visual identity for the overall project and its five sub-projects — including logo design to enhance brand recognition.

For external communications, DiMOS not only redesigned the project family’s website but also took responsibility for a recurring newsletter that kept all stakeholders informed about ongoing developments and milestones.

To further support project coordination, a robust digital infrastructure was introduced. By implementing the OpenProject management platform and SharePoint, DiMOS enabled transparent collaboration and centralized access to all essential documents, meeting notes, and working materials. Regularly scheduled status meetings across the project family, sub-projects, and working groups were also organized, moderated, and documented as part of the PMO’s core responsibilities.

Industry Presence and Public Visibility

Throughout the project, Gaia-X 4 Future Mobility was represented at numerous trade fairs and industry events with the support of DiMOS. A particular highlight was the Hannover Messe 2024, where the consortium presented its forward-looking approaches to a wide professional audience. DiMOS not only organized speaking opportunities but also managed a variety of partner-specific needs — preparing materials, supporting the consortium on-site, and documenting all key presentations, photos, and contacts for follow-up.

DiMOS also played a crucial role in planning and executing consortium and project family events in cities like Wolfsburg and Cologne. The PMO handled everything from agenda development and participant registration to workshop design, catering coordination, and event photography.

Final Event and Future Outlook

A standout moment was the closing event for the Gaia-X 4 ROMS sub-project, held over two days in Osnabrück and Hamburg. The event offered a look back at project achievements and an outlook on future developments in mobility. Central themes included the evolution of mobility data spaces and how companies and research institutions can exchange data securely and efficiently. The event brought together a wide range of experts to discuss the standards and technologies needed for tomorrow’s connected mobility.
